What is Bikeability?
Bikeability is the UK’s national cycle training programme designed to help children and young people develop the skills and confidence to ride safely on roads. It provides practical, hands-on training that equips riders with essential cycling techniques, road awareness, and hazard perception.
The programme is delivered at different levels to suit various abilities:
- Level 1: Basic cycling skills in a safe, off-road environment.
- Level 2: Road riding skills on quiet roads, teaching how to navigate junctions and traffic.
- Level 3: Advanced training on busier roads, roundabouts, and more complex junctions.
Bikeability not only promotes cycling as a fun and healthy activity but also encourages safe, independent travel.
