What is Bikeability?

Bikeability is the government’s national cycle training programme. It helps you learn practical skills and understand how to cycle on today’s roads.

Bikeability gives everyone the confidence to cycle and enjoy this skill for life.

Bikeability equips children with vital skills, they not only learn to cycle, but gain independence and social skills.

Bikeability helps children to gain the skills, knowledge and understanding to cycle safely on the roads, encouraging confidence for all kinds of cycling in the future.

During the week of 10th to 14th January we had a number of Bikeability instructors come into school to deliver training to our pupils in Owls class.

In an email to the school, the Lead Instructor from Bikeability commented:

“It is always a pleasure to deliver Bikeability at Castlewood and this week has been no exception.

The young people from Year 6 were a really great group and all of them engaged fully with the Instructors. My Instructors and saw some fantastic examples of perseverance and resilience from them and, hopefully, they have gained some helpful skills or experience from us.”
