Cultural Experience at Wagamama Solihull 30th January 2025

On Thursday, 30th January, Year 11 pupils had a cultural experience at Wagamama Solihull, where they learned about Japanese cuisine and culture . The morning began with a juice-making session, where pupils chose their ingredients and eagerly watched as Chad, our host, made freshly squeezed juice from their selections.

Next, pupils participated in a card match activity to learn the meanings of food terminology used within Wagamama restaurants. They then had the opportunity to taste ingredients such as kimchi, pickles, tofu, and Mema.
Chad taught the pupils how to use chopsticks before they took part in an Edamame Bean challenge, designed to help them appreciate how Japanese children learn to use chopsticks. Pupils competed to find out who could move the most Edamame Beans from one bowl to another within 30 seconds, with Ethan achieving the winning score of 34. Well done, Ethan!

The highlight of the visit was choosing freshly prepared ingredients for lunch and watching as the Itamae (Chefs) cooked them.

Pupils thoroughly enjoyed their experience and left with a new appreciation for Japanese cuisine and culture.

A special thanks to Chad and Bea for creating such a memorable experience for our pupils.
