In Science lessons, KS4 pupils had the opportunity to dive into the fascinating world of flame tests. During their lessons, they experimented with various chemicals to observe the vibrant colours produced when these substances are heated over a Bunsen Burner flame.
Pupils used common chemicals such as lithium, sodium, potassium, calcium, and copper. Each chemical produced a unique colour, from the bright yellow of sodium to the lilac hue of potassium. This hands-on activity captivated the Pupils’ attention leaving them eager for more exciting experiments in their future science lessons.
