International Dot Day

International Dot Day – A Celebration of Creativity and Belonging

This year, our school will join in celebrating International Dot Day, inspired by Peter H. Reynolds’ beautiful story The Dot. The book reminds us that a single dot can be the starting point of courage, creativity, and self-expression. It teaches that each of us has the ability to “make our mark” and that even the smallest beginning can grow into something meaningful and extraordinary.

To honour this message, all students and staff are invited to design their own dot using the attached template. These dots represent our individual creativity and uniqueness. Please do not cut them out—after designing, they should be delivered to Mrs. Sulich.

Together, the dots will be arranged into tessellations, forming a powerful visual reminder that while every dot is unique, we are all connected as members of one school community. Just as Vashti in the story discovered her talent and confidence through a single dot, we too celebrate that each person’s contribution matters.

A PowerPoint presentation and/or book reading (YouTube link attached) will accompany this activity, deepening our reflection on how imagination and courage help us grow, and how, together, we create something greater than ourselves.

Warm dotty inspirational regards,

Mrs. Sulich
