Castlewood got off to the perfect start, pressing high and dominating early possession. Their efforts paid off as Max struck twice in quick succession — the first a tidy finish after breaking through the defence, and the second a superb curling effort from the edge of the box. With confidence flowing, Castlewood looked in control and went into half time leading 2–1, despite Maplewell pulling one back late in the first half.
However, the second half told a very different story. Maplewell came out rejuvenated, showing greater energy and precision in attack. They quickly levelled the score before taking the lead through a well-worked team move. As Castlewood tired, Maplewell capitalised, adding two more goals in the closing stages to seal an impressive 5–2 comeback victory.
It was a tale of two halves — Castlewood shining early on with Max’s heroics, but Maplewell proving too strong in the end. Both teams can take pride in their performances, with plenty of lessons to build on for future matches.
