On Wednesday 25th September – The Robins Class we had our first trip as a class in Robins. Our visit took us to Blackwell Adventure where pupils had a variety of climbing activities to complete.
As a class we were fantastic as listening to Nathan our instructor. We watched his demonstrations and listened carefully to the safety information. Throughout the day pupils had to work together to support others completing one of the activities. We needed to be patient and wait our turn and at time some of the activities were a little bit of a challenge, we had to persevere and keep trying, offer guidance with help and support tips and cheer our friends on for having a good go.
The activities we completed were –
1st crate stacking – working in pairs pupils had to work together to make space, keep their balance and step from side to side gradually higher and higher up the crates as our peers and teachers increased the towers height. Today’s record height was 12 crates high. This was a challenge for a few of us we had to communicate well with our partner, have trust and confidence to step up together.
2nd activity was a climbing challenge that asked children to climb a post and get to a square base at the top. Four children took part in this activity at one time but as we got towards the third or fourth person climbing up the challenge became harder. At the top pupils had to support each climbing up into the platform and supporting each other at the top so no one falls back or lose balance.
3rd tree climbing – this was probably the quickest climb challenge we had. Mostly the group had a try at this and once started every child who took part was soon up high in the trees. When we reached the top, we were asked to abseil down the trees this was something the children loved doing.
What a wonderful Wednesday outing as a class and I don’t know what you think but I’m looking forward to our next activity or trip together. Well done Robins!
