Year 10 BTEC Sport Visit to Alexander Stadium 20th January 2026

As a well-earned break from their most recent assignment, our Year 10 BTEC Sport students had the opportunity to take part in an educational visit to Alexander Stadium.

The visit was designed to broaden students’ understanding of the wide range of career opportunities available within the sports industry, beyond simply being an athlete. During the trip, students explored the stadium environment and were encouraged to observe how a large sporting venue operates on a day-to-day basis.

As part of the visit, each student was tasked with selecting a potential job role they could see within the stadium setting. These included roles linked to areas such as coaching, officiating, facility management, sports science, media, and event operations. Students then considered and discussed the key roles and responsibilities associated with their chosen job, as well as the skills, qualities, and qualifications needed to be successful in that role.

The experience allowed students to make meaningful links between their classroom learning and real-world sporting environments, helping them to think more clearly about future pathways, careers, and progression routes within sport. Students were engaged throughout the visit and demonstrated maturity, curiosity, and enthusiasm when completing the task.
