Year 10 pupils recently took part in an engaging and thought-provoking workshop led by the Red Cross, focused on helping young people develop the skills needed to cope with everyday challenges. The session provided a safe and supportive environment where students could explore their emotions, learn practical strategies for managing stress, and build confidence in handling difficult situations.
Throughout the workshop, pupils participated in interactive activities that encouraged teamwork and open discussion. They were introduced to real-life scenarios and guided to think about how they might respond in a calm and constructive way. The Red Cross facilitator Selini highlighted the importance of resilience, reminding pupils that facing challenges is a natural part of life and that support is always available.
A key part of the session was learning simple techniques to help manage strong emotions, such as breathing exercises and positive thinking strategies. Pupils were also encouraged to identify trusted adults and peers they could turn to when they need help, reinforcing the message that no one has to face challenges alone.
The workshop had a positive impact, with many pupils showing increased confidence in discussing their feelings and supporting one another. Pupils themselves described the experience as helpful and empowering, with several saying they would use the strategies they had learned in their daily lives.
The Red Cross “Coping with Challenges” workshop proved to be a valuable experience, equipping pupils with important life skills that will help them navigate both school and personal challenges with greater resilience and understanding.
