Staying Safe On The Road Workshop – West Midlands Fire Service (18 June 2025)

On Wednesday 18th June, Year 10 pupils participated in a Staying Safe on the Road workshop, delivered by Grace, an Education Practitioner from the West Midlands Fire Service.

During the session, pupils explored crucial aspects of road safety, including how to wear seat belts correctly and the serious risks of using mobile phones—whether behind the wheel or while crossing the road. Grace also led discussions on the impact of peer pressure, both positive and negative, on drivers. Pupils learned subtle but effective ways to encourage a speeding driver to slow down without causing tension or fear.
The workshop also covered the dangers of drink driving, and pupils were presented with some eye-opening statistics on road traffic fatalities. The session left a lasting impression and equipped students with practical strategies to stay safe and influence others to do the same.
